MT RWENZORI

LAKE VICTORIA

Lake Victoria, the largest freshwater lake in Africa, is a vital natural feature in Uganda, serving both as a key source of livelihood and a major tourist attraction. It provides livelihoods through fishing, supporting millions in Uganda and neighboring countries. Nile perch and tilapia are among the commercially important fish species harvested here. The lake also supports agriculture, transport, and trade, with numerous communities relying on its waters for irrigation and connectivity. The venue for the 13
th APA conference, Speke resort Hotel, is located on the shores of lake Victoria and participants have the opportunity to see, fish and walk on these shores. RIVER NILE

The River Nile, the world’s longest river, is a vital natural resource in Uganda, providing both livelihoods and serving as a major tourist attraction. As a livelihood source, the river supports fishing, agriculture, and hydroelectric power generation. Communities along its banks depend on its waters for irrigation, fishing, and transportation, contributing significantly to local economies. As a tourist attraction, the Nile offers a variety of experiences, including white-water rafting, kayaking, and bungee jumping near Jinja, often referred to as the adventure capital of East Africa. The Nile’s scenic beauty, rich biodiversity, and cultural significance, combined with its historical allure as the “source of the Nile” at Lake Victoria, make it a must-visit destination for travelers seeking adventure, nature, and history. MT ELGON

SIPI FALLS

Sipi Falls, located in eastern Uganda near the slopes of Mount Elgon, is a stunning series of three waterfalls that serve as a popular tourist attraction. The falls are renowned for their breathtaking beauty, with the main waterfall plunging approximately 100 meters into a lush, green valley.
