The APA conference will be held at the Kigali Convention Center from 25th – 29th August 2019. Submissions for abstracts close on March 14. We need to look at it as an opportunity to increase the uptake of our technology development.

UNBURIED TREASURE: BREEDING BETTER SWEETPOTATOES FOR THE WORLD.
Some foods are known as seasonal wonders making an appearance only once or twice a year when families gather for holiday feasts. Cranberry sauce, pecan pie, egg nog, sweetpotatoes, typically with tiny marshmallows roasted on top, were once on that list. But sweetpotatoes are on the rise.
They have become increasingly recognized as a superfood packed with essential vitamins and nutrients and are now enjoyed throughout the year in upscale restaurants, as a healthier alternative to French fries and in products as valid as vodka, sausage and muffins.

APA 2019 LOCAL ORGANIZING COMMITTEE MEETING
In preparation for the African Potato Association (APA) scheduled to take place in 25th – 29th August 2019, the Local Organizing Committee will hold the first APA planning meeting on 12th March, in Kigali, Rwanda at Grand Legacy Hotel. The meeting will consist of 22 local organizing committee members headed by the Chairman of the APA Local Organizing Committee, Dr. Charles Bucagu.
