Charles grew up in Texas, the USA where his father was a sorghum breeder for Texas A& M University. From an early age, he was exposed to first-hand stories from his father and visiting researchers from around the world of how agriculture differed, and the positive role innovation could play in the people’s daily lives.

During Charles’ years at Texas A& M University where he received both his Bachelor and
Master of Science in Agricultural Economics, he gained further understanding of how innovation
could be applied to Global Agriculture. His work in the Ag Economics Department, as well as other positions in the Cereal Quality Lab and plant breeding groups, showed that innovation alone does not change lives. But when coupled with channels to market dramatic shifts can be made. After college Charles worked with Mars, Inc where his interest in International Business was further stimulated. He quickly moved from commodity analysis to Manager of the Asia Pacific Treasury. The skills and lessons learned in this Global Food Company helped to shape the next stage of his career where he returned to his roots and entered the seed industry. His roles at MMR Genetics, NuFarm, and Chromatin all had one thing in common, the need to find new markets outside the United States for improved hybrids. This global push helped these research focused seed companies grow and at the same time brought needed innovation to farmers around the world.
Today as Commercial Director with Solynta Charles continues his passion for agricultural development. His in-depth experience in the international seed industry will help bring Solynta’s revolutionary developments in potato breeding technology to the world market while also enhancing the lives of farmers and decreasing the environmental footprint of the potato supply chain. In addition to his role at Solynta Miller serves as Broad Member of the African Seed Trade Association as well as the Vice Chair of the International Executive Committee of the American Seed Trade Association.
