By profession Thomas Miethbauer is an Agricultural Engineer, specializing in agricultural and development economics and business administration. He obtained his degree at the Kiel University Institute of Agricultural Economics in Germany. Since 2019 he has worked with GIZ as an advisor and manager for ‘Promotion of nutrition-sensitive Potato value chain in East Africa’ project and coordinates the Global Potato Value Chain Working Group. Earlier in his career, MIethbauer worked for the International Potato Center (CIP) as a senior scientist guiding projects in Peru and Ethiopia. He developed his passion for potato when working for the Global Programs on Integrated Crop Systems Research and in Social Science and Health. He contributed to participatory research and development for improving methods of pest control, partnership building and variety selection.
